Analyzing the Chiefs seven-round mock draft by Pro Football Focus

Let’s take a closer look at an in-depth prediction of Kansas City’s draft.

On Wednesday, Pro Football Focus NFL Draft contributor Josh Liskiewitz authored a seven-round mock draft for the Kansas City Chiefs. With just five picks — one in each of the draft’s first five rounds — to work with, there were no positions selected twice, although the offense was addressed heavily.

Here are the picks made:

Round 1 – Pick 9: RB Jeremiyah Love, Notre Dame

Round 2 – Pick 40: OT Gennings Dunker, Iowa

Round 3 – Pick 74: WR Germie Bernard, Alabama

Round 4 – Pick 109: TE Marlin Klein, Michigan

Round 5 – Pick 146: EDGE Nadame Tucker, Western Michigan

    My analysis

The pick of Love will continue to be among the most popular choices for the Chiefs with the ninth-overall selection for all of draft season, unless the team takes a huge swing on signing a free-agent running back like Breece Hall or Kenneth Walker.

In this scenario, the Chiefs bolster the offense with a star ballcarrier, then continue to strengthen the unit around quarterback Patrick Mahomes. The pick of Dunker — who started at right tackle in each of the past three seasons at Iowa — has the potential to solidify the entire starting offensive line for the immediate future.

At this week’s Senior Bowl, Dunker measured in just under 6 feet 5 inches tall with a weight of 320 pounds. He passed the typical arm-length threshold to play tackle with 34-inch arms and 10-inch hands as well.

According to Liskiewitz, Dunker had success blocking for both inside and outside zone runs in college, making him a fit for the Chiefs’ run game on the surface.

In the third round, the Chiefs are matched with Bernard, a receiver that The Athletic’s Dane Brugler considered the 33rd-best player in the 2026 NFL Draft as recently as November. This draft cycle, he has been considered a well-rounded prospect who doesn’t have any standout traits to be sold as a high pick.

Over the last two seasons at Alabama, Bernard totaled 1,656 receiving yards on 114 catches and nine touchdown receptions. He also scored three times on the ground, averaging 6.3 yards per rush over 22 attempts. He is a more proven player than the tight end chosen next: Marlin Klein from Michigan, who has one career touchdown over 38 catches.

To round out the draft, Kansas City is awarded one of the most productive pass rushers in college football during the 2025 season. Tucker racked up 14.5 sacks and four forced fumbles last year at Western Michigan after three uneventful seasons at the University of Houston.

The underrated prospect has turned some heads at this week’s Senior Bowl practices. He would be a refreshing complement to the Chiefs’ existing defensive ends.
