The former Steelers’ assistant
The Pittsburgh Steelers are welcoming several new faces to their coaching staff, which you can follow along with in our assistant coach tracker.
With new additions also come departures, and the Steelers have already seen several coaches go elsewhere. Special teams coordinator Danny Smith took the same role with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and offensive coordinator Arthur Smith is the new OC at Ohio State. Defensive line coach Karl Dunbar, defensive coordinator Teryl Austin, running backs coach Eddie Faulkner, and cornerbacks coach Anthony Midget will also be gone.
The newest departure, though, is offensive line coach Pat Meyer, who is taking the same role with the Buffalo Bills. This comes after the Steelers hired James Campen to be their new offensive line coach.
The Bills fired head coach Sean McDermott after nine seasons and promoted offensive coordinator Joe Brady to head coach. Brady and Meyer spent time together with the Carolina Panthers.
Meyer has had several stops across the NFL. He was the Los Angeles Chargers’ offensive line coach and run game coordinator from 2017-19, then went to Carolina to be the Panthers’ offensive line coach from 2020-21 before taking the Steelers’ job in 2022.
