Jack Grealish is expected to miss three months after breaking his foot – and there is a chance the Manchester City loanee could be sidelined for the rest of the season depending on how his recovery goes.
With Tyler Dibling also failing to make an impact out wide, Everton have now reached out to Inter Milan about Luis Henrique, as reported by Fabrizio Biasin.
Everton initiate discussions with Inter Milan over Luis Henrique
According to Fabrizio Biasin, the Brazilian winger has attracted interest not just from Everton, but also from Aston Villa and Bournemouth.
Bournemouth are reported to have tabled a €30m (£26m) bid after Antoine Semenyo’s move to Manchester City, while Everton’s approach is said to be more of an initial enquiry.
Biasin notes that even if Everton decide to match that offer, Inter will not let Henrique go until they have secured a replacement. The club signed him from Marseille for €25m (£22m) last summer.
The 24-year-old has found it tough since his move from Ligue 1 to Serie A, managing just one assist in 23 appearances across all competitions this season.
Despite those numbers, Henrique still has his supporters at the San Siro. Teammate Matteo Darmian spoke highly of him earlier in the campaign (via Sempre Inter), calling him a “top player”.
Luis Henrique links could mean more 3-4-2-1 for Everton under David Moyes
In the second half of their 1-1 draw against Leeds, Moyes made a switch to a 3-4-2-1 shape with wing-backs.
It turned out to be a good decision from the Glaswegian. Everton managed to find an equaliser and even came close to winning it when Idrissa Gueye hit the bar. The interest in Henrique suggests this formation might become more common going forward.
The Brazilian star has played exclusively as a wing-back in Cristian Chivu’s 3-5-2 system at Inter Milan this season, so he would fit naturally into that role if Moyes sticks with it.
