NC State received a commitment on Sunday from Miami transfer linebacker Raul Aguirre Jr., who was a mainstay in the Hurricanes’ rotation in 2025. Aguirre played in all 16 games for Miami this season, with one start, and recorded 43 tackles.

Five of those tackles came against NC State in mid-November. He’ll step right into a starting spot in Raleigh, and should make the Pack’s defense feel a little bit better about replacing Caden Fordham. This is a critical addition for State, especially with Kenny Soares leaving the program.

Aguirre, who has one year of eligibility remaining, was a four-star prospect out of Georgia in the 2023 class. He played in 39 games over three seasons at Miami, and has 77 career tackles, including 4.0 for a loss. He could easily double those career numbers with the increase in playing time he’s going to get at NC State.

(Hey, Raul, while you’re still down there, why not check and see if Kamal Bonner wants to come with you.)
