The Armed Forces Bowl between Rice and Texas State experienced a scary scene before kickoff on Friday.
One of five parachutists scheduled to land on the field at Fort Worth’s Amon G. Carter Stadium accidentally got caught in a cable supporting the field goal netting and remained suspended in mid-air for a second, before a fall of several yards.
The crowd watching was audibly stunned after seeing him go down. You can see the crash below, with the warning that the sight could be disturbing for some viewers.

The good news is the parachutist appears to have avoided serious injury. Per the Houston Chronicle, an Armed Forces Bowl spokesman said the unidentified man walked away from the incident under his own power and no one on the ground was injured.
The parachute jump was reportedly performed by a team known as All Veteran Group, which is composed of military veterans and has performed similar stunts at dozens of football games and other events since its creation in 2011.
Of the other five parachutists performing Friday, three landed on the field as expected — though one had a rather hard landing — and another missed the playing field altogether.
This is the second time a parachute stunt has gone partially wrong at a military event this bowl season, as one of eight parachutists at the Salute to Veterans Bowl accidentally landed in a nearby baseball field rather than the Cramton Bowl in Montgomery, Alabama.
Friday’s incident didn’t prevent the Armed Forces Bowl from beginning on time. The game saw Texas State blow out Rice 41-10 to finish its season with a 7-6 record. Rice fell to a 5-8 record, after becoming bowl eligible due to its high APR and a dearth of teams with the required record.
