The Brewers closed out their six-game West Coast road trip with a 5-1 record after pounding the Mariners for 17 hits on Wednesday afternoon.
SEATTLE – Chalk up another one for Pat Murphy's "Fightin' Woodpeckers."
Bouncing back from being shut out on two hits the night before in true 2025 Milwaukee Brewers fashion, they racked up 17 hits en route to blowing out the Seattle Mariners, 10-2, at T-Mobile Park on Wednesday afternoon, July 23.
Brice Turang and William Contreras had three hits apiece, while Jackson Chourio, Isaac Collins, Tyler Black and Joey Ortiz each recorded a pair as Milwaukee scored in five different innings to wrap up its West Coast road trip with a 5-1 record and move back into first place in the Central Division with a 61-41 record.
BOX SCORE: Brewers 10, Mariners 2
And true to form, 14 of the Brewers' 17 hits on the day were singles with the other three doubles. The 10 runs were their most since scoring 10 to beat the Colorado Rockies on June 27.
Quinn Priester turned in another terrific start as well, tying a career high with seven innings. He allowed six hits, two runs and two walks while striking out six over 96 pitches.
Milwaukee isn't letting up
Turang, Contreras and Chourio all singled in the sixth, with Chourio's two-out line drive to right extending the Brewers' lead to 7-2.
The onslaught continued in the seventh, with four consecutive two-out hits upping the lead to 10-2.
Priester, meanwhile, has won eight of his last 10 appearances (three of which he entered the game following an opener) and improved to 9-2 with a 3.28 ERA.
Following Priester was Tobias Myers, who saw his first action since July 4. He struck out the first batter he faced and pitched a scoreless final two innings with three strikeouts.
More small ball pays off
JP Crawford booted a routine grounder up the middle by Collins to start the fourth.
It was a big boo-boo, as with two outs Castillo plunked Anthony Seigler and then Milwaukee rattled off three straight singles – an Ortiz line drive to right, a Turang infield squibber and a rocket to center by Contreras – to re-take the lead at 5-2.
Three straight singles to start the fifth made it a 6-2 game then, with Chourio, Collins and Black each collecting one and Black driving in the run.
Chourio's knock extended his career-high hitting streak to 17 games.
Brewers' early lead doesn't last long
After being shut out Tuesday night, the Brewers grabbed an early lead against Castillo.
Collins opened the second by singling, then Black ripped a shot to right field that he turned into a hustle double. That brought up Blake Perkins, who then drove in both with a double to left-center to make it 2-0.
The Mariners then tied it up in the second on a leadoff double, two-out double and bloop single.
