The Los Angeles Dodgers, coming off a rough series against the Milwaukee Brewers, won against the Minnesota Twins in a much-needed bounce-back game.

However, during the game, reliever Tanner Scott suffered an apparent injury to his throwing arm and had to be taken out of the game in the ninth inning. Dave Roberts expected him to go on the injured list, and the next day, it was official.

According to Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic, the Dodgers are placing Scott on the injured list and recalling trade pickup Alexis Diaz to take his place on the active roster.

Scott, after signing a huge four-year, $72 million deal, had a 4.14 ERA and 50 strikeouts in 45.2 innings before landing on the injured list. Since the start of July, in seven appearances, he had an 8.10 ERA in 6.2 innings.

Taking his place is Diaz, whom the Dodgers traded for back in May. He made a brief stop with the Dodgers earlier in the year, but he didn't get into the game and was optioned the next day.

But Scott's injury likely will keep Diaz on the Major League roster barring a collapse. In his six games this season with the Cincinnati Reds, before being traded, Diaz had a 12.00 ERA in six innings pitched.

Diaz also has a 6.75 ERA in the minors this season for the Dodgers' Triple-A affiliate. His struggles have been apparent this season and are a far cry from what he showed previously in his career.

The former All-Star had a lot of anticipation, but he's struggled to reach the heights of his 2022 and 2023 seasons, when he had a 1.84 ERA and 3.07 ERA, respectively.

Scott is heading to the injured list, while Diaz is set to get his first try back in the Majors after being traded by the Reds after a rough first six appearances this season.
