Liverpool took the decision to loan out several players last summer.
It’s fair to say not all of them have been a success - with the likes of Harvey Elliott, James McConnell and Lewis Koumas struggling to make an impact.
It’s even been suggested that the trio could return to Anfield as soon as January - either to conclude a deal elsewhere or else be reintegrated into the first-team squad in the case of Elliott.
Jaros joins Ajax under Heitinga
Vitezslav Jaros, 24, also appeared to be on a hiding to nothing after he joined Ajax along with McConnell last summer.
The Czech goalkeeper secured a one-year loan deal with the Dutch giants - without a purchase option attached. It was reckoned that he would be the new No1 for the Eredivisie side but he was removed from the line-up following a string of indifferent displays.
Jaros moved to Ajax in order to work under John Heitinga - who was Arne Slot’s Liverpool assistant coach during the Premier League title win of 2024/25.
Jaros makes Ajax breakthrough
But his spell as Ajax head coach lasted only 15 matches - throwing the futures of Jaros and McConnell into disarray. While the midfielder has failed to recover his position in the team Jaros has gone from strength to strength.
The goalkeeper is playing a key part in Ajax’s resurgence under temporary coach Fred Grim - playing each of their last three Dutch top-flight matches and their last two games in the Champions League.
Jaros has once again displaced veteran Remko Pasveer - a very good response to first being dropped initially under Heitinga.
