Not gonna happen.
The Los Angeles Lakers' fanbase understood the move, in concept.
On Sunday night, the Lakers waived guard Jordan Goodwin, who had been a fan favorite. The decision had to be made to clear salary space for Marcus Smart, who is expected to be signed once he clears waivers following his buyout from the Wizards.
But because L.A. fans enjoyed Goodwin's 29 games with the Lakers this past season, they started clamoring on social media to get Goodwin back somehow.
The main suggestion was a two-way contract.
But that won't work.
ESPN front office expert Bobby Marks has the explanation on X:
"Jordan Goodwin has 4 years of service. He is ineligible to sign a Two-Way (3 years or less)."

Goodwin will have to clear waivers, and a team could definitely take a chance on him there.
If he makes it through waivers, he'd be available for anyone in the NBA to sign.
But the two-way Goodwin dreams are not going to happen because they can't happen.
