The USC Trojans plastered a Freshman All-American on their recruiting radar Friday. Making him one of the first 2028 talents the Trojans are pursuing.
The Bolles School of Florida prospect Asher Ghioto revealed on X (formerly Twitter) that USC has extended an offer to him.
"Wow! Beyond blessed and excited to receive an offer from the University of Southern California," the Jacksonville native Ghioto shared online.
Ghioto didn't just tag Lincoln Riley in his offer. Defensive line coach Eric Henderson was tagged. "Hendo" is already running point on Ghioto's recruitment. The '28 edge rusher also tagged defensive coordinator D'Anton Lynn.
The 6-foot-5, 240-pounder is immediately one of the nation's most coveted prospects following a stellar first high school season in 2024. Ghioto earned Freshman All-American honors by MaxPreps after snatching seven sacks and 21 tackles behind the line of scrimmage.
Ghioto is putting in work in the weight room too. He went viral in May for bench pressing 225 pounds an astonishing 26 times. A rare mark for underclassmen football players.
USC rises as one of the few West Coast opportunities for the Florida talent. Cal out of the Atlantic Coast Conference offered in March. The Golden Bears and Trojans represent his only Californian offers so far.
But the Trojans already face a fierce gauntlet of schools to try and land Ghioto. Powerhouses ranging from Alabama, Ohio State, LSU and Notre Dame have extended early offers to him. He holds 40 different scholarship offers.
Ghioto also stars at tight end for The Bolles School.
