Kristen Saban made her own announcement about her father's future
For days, social media has been abuzz ever since ESPN college football analyst and former Alabama quarterback Greg McElroy revealed that a source close to Nick Saban thinks he will be returning to coaching soon.
Since then, everyone has given their two cents about whether he will return, and if he does,it will be college or pro? Or what schools he might consider coaching at in the future.
But Saban’s daughter, Kristen, put an end, at least for now, to all the rumors and speculation when she put this quote out on social media Thursday night.
“He’s not coming back to coaching, hate to break it to you,” she wrote on Instagram. “You had your time.
Saban has said in the past that he is enjoying his retirement and has yet to comment on whether he ever would return to coaching at the age of 73. When asked if his former boss would even consider returning to coaching, Georgia head coach Kirby Smart even balked at the idea when asked at SEC Media Days.
“I heard all that scuttlebutt and everything about it, I almost laughed,” Smart said via AL.com. “It was like somebody needed something interesting to talk about yesterday, so they chose to go to coach Saban and do it. The game’s better with him involved. He is involved. He is passionate about it. He and I still talk and share ideas from time to time about defensive philosophies and the way to do things.
If Saban decided to return, he’d probably have to get permission from his wife, Terry. Although he started the rumor on his talk show earlier this week, even McElroy doesn’t think that his former coach would return at this point, but never say never. Stranger things have happened.
