New Notre Dame coach George Stoll was 112-74 in six seasons at Newport Central Catholic, leading NCC to a 29-5 record and the Sweet 16 in 2013-14.
Notre Dame Academy has named former Newport Central Catholic head coach George Stoll to lead its girls basketball program.
Stoll was NewCath head coach from 2012-18, where he led the Thoroughbreds to a 112-74 record over six seasons. His tenure included one Ninth Region championship, three Ninth Region All “A” Classic titles, and a trip to the finals of the state’s small-school tournament.
He was named Greater Cincinnati Coach of the Year following the 2013–14 season when his team posted a 29–5 record. In 2016, Stoll was named the Ninth Region Coach of the Year.
Stoll has also served as an assistant coach at Thomas More University and coached high school athletes through elite AAU programs including Kentucky Fusion and Kentucky Premier. He is the co-founder of Next Play Academy, which focuses on mental toughness, leadership, and life skills for student-athletes.
“George Stoll is a tremendous addition to our athletics program,” said NDA Athletic Director Janet Carl in a press release. “His coaching experience, character, and leadership align beautifully with the mission of Notre Dame Academy. We are excited to welcome George and his family into our Panda community.”
A Northern Kentucky native, Stoll resides in Independence with his wife and four children.
“Notre Dame Academy has a tradition of excellence in girls basketball,” Stoll said in the release. “I’m honored to have the opportunity to build on that success and to help our student-athletes grow both on and off the court. I believe in preparing players not just for competition, but for life.”
He replaces Kes Murphy, who led the Pandas to a 151-58 record, six district titles and three regional championship game appearances over the past seven seasons.
This past season, the Pandas went 22-8, winning the 35th district championship before a 60-57 loss to Cooper in the 9th Region championship.
