Anyone with rooting interests in the Golden State Warriors will hope they did not put all their eggs into the Bradley Beal basket. The three-time All-Star will indeed be leaving the Phoenix Suns, but his next destination is not the Bay Area.
Shams Charania reported, "Bradley Beal has agreed to a contract buyout with the Phoenix Suns and plans to join the Los Angeles Clippers on a two-year, $11 million deal with a player option after clearing waivers, Mark Bartelstein of [Priority Sports] told ESPN."
Charania added, "The crux of the decision for Beal and his representation was finding the best basketball situation first and foremost once he was granted permission by the Suns to speak to interested suitors around the NBA, and Bartelstein led an exhaustive process over the last few weeks."
The Warriors had been linked to Beal in hopes of adding more firepower to a team that lacked it past Stephen Curry. That issue exposed itself in the second round of the 2025 NBA Playoffs against the Minnesota Timberwolves. So, where do the Warriors go from here?
A while back, Jake Fischer reported there were several players waiting for the conclusion of the Beal saga in order to find a new home. The Warriors were in the mix for one of those key names. That would be Malcolm Brogdon.
Fischer wrote in regards to Brogdon's potential suitors, "That list includes the Clippers, Suns and [Los Angeles] Lakers as well as the Warriors, [Minnesota] Timberwolves, [New Orleans] Pelicans, [Sacramento] Kings and [Milwaukee] Bucks.”
The veteran guard could certainly captain the second unit for the Warriors next season. If not Brogdon, someone like Malik Monk in a potential sign-and-trade scenario with the Kings might tickle the fancy of Golden State.
Perhaps the name is a little less obvious now. However, one way or another, the Warriors will need to do something to get the offensive gears in motion for the 2025-26 season.
