Bradley Beal's price was right for Clippers in West-altering decision

Los Angeles adds Beal at a cheap cost.

Bradley Beal might be mostly washed up.

His time with the Phoenix Suns certainly wasn't encouraging. He could still score the ball, albeit less efficiently than he ever had.

But he's still Bradley Beal. He's still talented. And on Wednesday, the Los Angeles Clippers found the right cost to make acquiring Beal worthwhile.

According to ESPN's Shams Charania, once Beal is bought out by the Phoenix Suns, he'll sign with the Clippers for two years and $11 million.

At that price, the move feels right for the Clippers.

For one, they keep the Lakers and Warriors from landing Beal.

And now, they have a relatively like-for-like replacement for Norman Powell. The Clippers traded Powell earlier this offseason in a three-team deal that netted L.A. power forward John Collins but left a gap in the 2-guard scoring department.

Enter Beal.

Now 32 years old, Beal just averaged 17.0 points per game. The Clippers won't need him to do more than that, and frankly, the need might be for less.

But he's an improvement for the Clippers, which is exactly what is needed in a hyper-competitive Western Conference.

They've now got a potential starting five of James Harden, Beal, Kawhi Leonard, Collins and Ivica Zubac.

That group can win a lot of games together.
