The New York Knicks have already made multiple moves to upgrade their roster this offseason and it appears at least one more may be on the way.
New York began their offseason by firing head coach Tom Thibodeau and they hired former Sacramento Kings head coach Mike Brown as his replacement after about a month of interviews with multiple candidates.
They then signed both Jordan Clarkson and Guerschon Yabusele in free agency to cheap contracts to upgrade their bench, which was an issue for them last season.
With these moves, the Knicks are clearly looking to make a run at a championship next season in a weakened Eastern Conference and they still have one more spot open on their roster taht they can use to sign a player on a veteran’s minimum contract.
According to a recent report, two players have emerged as potential candidates to fill New York’s final roster spot.
Those two players are Landry Shamet and Ben Simmons, both of whom remain unsigned in free agency.

For Shamet, he played for the Knicks last season and was a key player off the bench for them in limited minutes.
The 28-year-old guard averaged 5.7 points and 1.2 rebounds per game and shot 46.1% from the field and 39.7% from three-point range last season in New York.
The other player reportedly on New York’s radar is former first overall pick Ben Simmons.
Of course, Simmons is no longer the player that he was early in his career with the Philadelphia 76ers due to multiple injuries over the last handful of seasons, but he would still be a solid addition to the Knicks’ roster.
Last season, the 28-year-old forward 5.0 points, 4.7 rebounds and 5.6 assists per game while shooting 52.0% from the field during his time with both the Brooklyn Nets and Los Angeles Clippers.
Both players would be solid additions to the Knicks’ bench entering next season as they try to take advantage of a weakened Eastern Conference and make a run at the NBA Finals.
