LeBron James wants to play with Michael Jordan

The offseason move no one would see coming.

LeBron James and Michael Jordan

Maybe all these LeBron James rumors are missing the mark.

Maybe the Los Angeles Lakers superstar is actually just looking for a way to play basketball with Chicago Bulls all-time great Michael Jordan.

Jordan is retired and not making any more comebacks, but otherwise, that'd be quite the outcome.

James spoke on his Mind The Game podcast about how inspiring Jordan has been to him. Then he wrote out the headline for us: "I can see the headline already: 'LeBron wants to play with Michael Jordan,'" James said.

Here's what James had to say about MJ as an inspiration: "There was nobody more inspiring to me than Michael Jordan. For me, I think our games would've complemented as well. MJ was a flat-out scorer. He was a scorer, scorer, scorer. He had a scorer's mentality.

"If I had to pick him — but I know I can't pick him because I know how social media works. You motherf—s are gonna be like, 'You want to play with Michael Jordan too? You done played with everybody else godd—t.'

"I didn't ask the question. I'm only answering it, guys."

James also mentioned Penny Hardaway, Grant Hill and Scottie Pippen as inspirations to him.

James and Jordan, of course, are closely linked now more than ever because of debates over the greatest of all time, the GOAT.

Many support Jordan. Nearly as many seem to support LeBron.

It's actually a pointless argument, but each feels like they come with their own ideals about the era they played in and the style of basketball they brought to the floor.

Only in a Space Jam setting, or maybe in the great basketball court in the sky, will these guys ever be teammates.

But man, it's fun to imagine.
