Here are the programs who are expected to contend for Section 1 and titles in boys lacrosse next year, which one has the best chance to follow in the footsteps of Somers and claim a NYSPHSAA title?
The poll, presented by White Plains Hospital, will stay open until Wednesday at 3 p.m.
Bronxville
The defending Class D champions did a lot of growing up over the past two seasons and only graduated eight seniors. Scoring goals will not be an issue.
Mamaroneck
After coming up short again in regionals, the defending Class A champions have perhaps their best shot at knocking off the Long Island champion. Almost every starter is back. These guys will be playing with desperation, too.
Rye
It's going to be an uphill climb for the perennial Class C power. There will be a new coach in place and the starting lineup will look vastly different, but there is a strong mix of youth and experience here.
Somers
The reigning Section 1 and NYSPHSAA Class C champions are really going to miss the likes of Miguel Iglesias and Matt Mayfield but there's a healthy contingent of rising juniors and seniors coming back who understand how to win.
Yorktown
The Huskers could not keep up with Greeley in the Class B title game, but there is help on the way. Filling critical holes in the starting lineup will be a priority, especially at the defensive end. A little added depth wouldn't hurt either.
