Arsenal closing in on double signing – latest transfer reports

Arsenal and Sporting have reportedly reached an agreement in principle for striker Viktor Gyokeres to head to the Emirates Stadium.

According to The Athletic, the two clubs have agreed on a deal worth €63.5 million, with an additional €10 million in add-ons.

The Sweden international would join as Mikel Arteta’s key signing to strengthen the centre-forward position – an area the Arsenal boss had been pushing to strengthen in as early as January.

The Athletic are also reporting that the Gunners are finalising a deal for Valencia defender Christhian Mosquera.

Having impressed for Spain in the U21 European Championship, the 21-year-old would move to north London in a deal worth up to €20 million, including add-ons.

Bild, meanwhile, say Bayern Munich will turn their attentions to Arsenal forward Leandro Trossard if they cannot sign Luis Diaz from Liverpool.

Elsewhere, Newcastle remain interested in Eintracht Frankfurt star Hugo Ekitike, as reported by the Telegraph. 

Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester United are among the other clubs who are monitoring the French forward, who scored 22 goals across all competitions for the German side. 

Nottingham Forest’s primary target, Johan Bakayoko, is in advanced talks with RB Leipzig, according to Sky Sports Germany. 

The PSV Eindhoven winger would be an ideal replacement for Anthony Elanga, who completed his £55 million switch to Newcastle on Friday. 

However, the 22-year-old is said to have received proposals from Bayer Leverkusen, Borussia Dortmund and now RB Leipzig, the latter of which are ‘advancing’ in negotiations to secure his services. 

Bournemouth are close to completing the signing of Djordje Petrovic from Chelsea for £25 million. 

The Serbian goalkeeper spent last season on loan with Strasbourg, keeping 10 clean sheets in 31 appearances. 

Sky Sports News have reported that Mark Travers is now set to undergo a medical at Everton after a £4 million deal was agreed, suggesting that Petrovic’s arrival is imminent.

They also say Wolves are close to completing a £15m deal to sign Fluminense winger Jhon Arias.

Morgan Gibbs-White has returned to Nottingham Forest for pre-season amid uncertainty around his future, with Tottenham keen to wrap up a deal for the midfielder despite Forest’s frustrations with the London side over how they have approached the deal.

The Guardian report that West Ham are set to move for Liverpool midfielder Harvey Elliott following the departure of Mohammed Kudus for Tottenham, and are also closing in on a deal for Slavia Prague left back El Hadji Malick Diouf.

And Chelsea defender Zak Sturge has now completed his move to Millwall having spent the second half of last season on loan at the club, as had been reported by Hayters last week.
