Paul Finebaum took a shot at Michigan in a recent tirade discussing their 2023 national title run. The Wolverines are still facing the impact of losing Jim Harbaugh to the NFL, finishing 8-5 this past season.
Paul Finebaum is beginning to grow tired of the Michigan Wolverines' national title run being coined as one of the greatest in college football history despite an unblemished mark and a loaded NFL draft class led by Minnesota Vikings quarterback J.J. McCarthy.
Finebaum, who's present for SEC Media Days, went on ESPN's First Take to discuss a variety of topics, including the Wolverines.
“I am not silly enough or stupid enough to come up here and act like the last two years didn’t happen,” Finebaum said. "Although we could debate Michigan from now until the end of time about the legitimacy of that national championship.”
Finebaum took it a step further. Even though he appears impressed with Sherrone Moore's handling of the program since Harbaugh's departure, there still seems to be a black eye on the program as a whole.
Even though the Wolverines have dominated Ohio State in recent years, Finebaum sent Michigan a reality check.
“Ohio State won it," Finebaum said regarding this past season. "They were the best team Day 1 and the best team all throughout the season, except for two Saturdays when Ryan Day got in the way of them winning."

Finebaum then took aim at the Big Ten, pointing to a perceived lack of competitiveness compared to the SEC.
"My point here is, the SEC, you could go here down — I’m not trying to sound like I’m the commissioner. I’m not, but you can get to the 12th or 13th SEC team — Shane Beamer reminded me a couple of minutes ago," Finebaum said. "They were picked to finish 14th last year and they had a three-touchdown lead against LSU and they let that get away. They were a dominating team at the end of the year.”
The Michigan-Ohio State rivalry continues this November, as the Wolverines attempt for five in a row to cap the season by doing so in Ann Arbor.
