Berlanga got KO’d, but it’s what happened outside the ring that had fans howling

It was a weekend packed with punches, pride, and pettiness. The Edgar Berlanga vs. Hamzah Sheeraz fight headlined a card full of tension and explosive finishes, with Sheeraz delivering a savage knockout in the main event. But while the action in the ring had fans buzzing, the real revenge story wasn’t about the fighters—at least not the ones wearing gloves.

Before fists flew in the main event, Oscar De La Hoya and Edgar Berlanga set the tone with a chaotic and highly entertaining press conference. Berlanga, never short on showmanship, threw money, lingerie, and even a wig at De La Hoya.

Theatrics aside, it was Sheeraz who ultimately stole the show in the ring, knocking Berlanga out cold and flipping the narrative.

And Oscar? He was ready.

Hours after the dust settled, De La Hoya posted a brutal Instagram video wearing the very wig that was hurled at him, captioned: ‘Hey @edgarberlanga thanks for this wig you threw in my face at the presser. Glad I kept it. It’s nice to have the last laugh.’ In the video, he drove the dagger in deeper: ‘Sheeraz, congratulations. Berlanga, you got knocked out! Something Canelo AlvaROIDs couldn’t do.’

This wasn’t just a clapback—it was a clinic. De La Hoya, long known for his savage ‘Clapback Thursday’ posts, once again proved that his trolling is just as sharp as his jab once was.

Even though his fighter William Zepeda lost in a spirited showing against Shakur Stevenson, De La Hoya walked away with a different kind of victory—one with style, spite, and a wig that now belongs in boxing’s hall of petty.
