According to an update from SPORT, Barcelona are seriously considering the signing of Marcus Rashford, but not in the way Manchester United would prefer.

The Blaugrana are aware of United’s €48 million asking price, but instead of paying that fee upfront, they are working on a loan deal with an option to buy.

After missing out on Nico Williams, Barcelona have kept searching for the ideal winger to strengthen their squad.

Both Liverpool’s Luis Diaz and Rashford are on Deco’s shortlist, but the Colombian remains the priority. However, the Diaz deal is complicated and expensive, making Rashford a more realistic short-term solution.

In recent days, Rashford’s name has gained momentum inside the club. Deco and his team see him as a good fit for what Barça need right now: a winger who can provide cover for Raphinha and Lamine Yamal without demanding a guaranteed starting spot.

Rashford keen on Barcelona switch

Rashford’s situation at Manchester United is far from ideal. He is not in the plans of Ruben Amorim, and his role in the squad has become increasingly unclear.

United’s stance is obvious, and there has been no mention of Rashford on their social media in recent days, hinting that he is no longer part of the club’s future.

The English forward has a contract until 2028, but he is well aware that his time at Old Trafford is likely over while Amorim is in charge. This opens the door for Barcelona to step in with an offer that suits both sides.

Rashford himself is open to the move. He wants to play for Barcelona and believes this could be the fresh start his career needs.

The club also knows that time is on their side. They are in no rush to finalise the deal immediately and plan to control the pace of negotiations.

For now, the focus remains on finding a loan agreement with an option to buy. This would allow Barça to avoid spending big right away while still bringing in a quality winger who fits the team’s needs.
