Cal Raleigh family tree: Meet NCAA baseball coach dad, switch-hitting brother, more about Mariners star

Here's more on Cal Raleigh's family, including his dad and brother, who are both in baseball.

Cal Raleigh has taken the MLB by storm this season. His rise started several years ago when the slugging, switch-hitting catcher made his way to the big leagues. Then, they learned his nickname. Former Mariners outfielder Jarred Kelenic called Raleigh "Big Dumper," and the moniker stuck like glue.

So far this year, he's made good on all of his potential, clobbering home runs at a historic pace. Raleigh was named an All-Star for the first time in 2025 and joined the field for the Home Run Derby — not something everyone expected when he was playing college baseball at Florida State before becoming a third-round pick by Seattle in the 2018 MLB Draft.

Raleigh's career almost felt destined to be in baseball somehow. After all, most of his family has some ties to the game. Here is more on Raleigh's family, including his dad, brother, cousin, and uncle, who all have connections to the game.

Cal Raleigh family tree

Parents -- Stephanie and Todd Raleigh

Raleigh was born in Cullowhee, N.C, to Stephanie and Todd Raleigh. Cullowhee is up in the mountains of North Carolina and the home to Western Carolina University.

We don't know much about Stephanie's job, if she had one, but managing a household with four kids would have been plenty time-consuming. She has always supported Cal along the way of his baseball career, but she is notably not a fan of his "Big Dumper" nickname. In a sideline interview, she said, "It stinks, I'll roll with it."

Cal's father, Todd, had a brief pro baseball career in the Red Sox organization. Like his son, he also played catcher. While a lengthy pro career wasn't in the cards, Todd then got into coaching. He was at Western Carolina from 2000-2007, amassing a 257-209 record with two appearances in an NCAA regional.

After that, Todd became the head coach at Tennessee for four seasons. He didn't find as much success with a 108-113 total record and no postseason appearances. The Volunteers didn't finish higher than fifth in the SEC East with Raleigh at the helm.

Siblings -- Emma Grace, Carley, and Todd Jr. Raleigh

We don't know much about Emma Grace and Carley, other than they are the middle children between their older brother Cal and younger brother Todd Jr. Emma Grace played volleyball at Bradley University, and Carley also played volleyball during her high school days.

Todd Jr., also known as "T," is currently in high school and a member of the Class of 2028. Like his brother, he is a switch-hitting catcher, but he has also played third and can pitch.

Uncle -- Matt Raleigh

Cal's uncle Matt had a longer pro career than his dad. He never made it to the big leagues, but he played in the minor leagues from 1992-2001. Matt played with his brother Todd at Western Carolina together.

Cousin -- Brody Raleigh

Cal's cousin Brody followed in his family's footsteps and is currently playing at Western Carolina. He has appeared in 26 total games over his first two seasons with the Catamounts. Brody has struggled in limited action, picking up only one hit in 27 plate appearances so far. He went to Christ School, which is an all-boys school in Asheville, N.C. He was listed as a second baseman in high school.
