Los Angeles Dodgers' left fielder Michael Conforto has severely struggled at the plate this season, and he may get replaced with the MLB trade deadline nearing.

The Los Angeles Dodgers hold the best record in the National League and lead the entire MLB in runs per game. However, one spot in the lineup has been terrible, and it needs to be fixed.

The Dodgers' primary left fielder this season has been Michael Conforto, who signed a one-year, $17 million deal with Los Angeles this offseason. His defense in the outfield has been good, but his production at the plate, despite his recent hot streak, has been awful.

Host of Dodger Talk, David Vassegh, recently joined Dodgers Territory to share his thoughts on Conforto's future with the Dodgers.

"(Conforto) has until July 31st to show the Dodgers that he should be the starting left fielder," Vassegh said.

Through 82 games, Conforto is hitting just. 185 with a .323 slugging percentage. He ranks eighth on the team in hits, home runs, and RBI.

Vassegh believes Conforto's time as the starting left fielder in Los Angeles could be coming to an end, and the Dodgers need to make a move at the MLB trade deadline to fix the issue in the outfield.

"I don't know who that is, I've heard the Red Sox shopped Jarren Duran and the Padres two months into the season. Byron Buxton's on a Twins' team that's going no where," Vassegh said. "There's got to be somebody out there who can help the Dodgers offensively and defensively because right now you have two guys in the corner outfield spots that don't cover a lot of ground. (Teoscar Hernández) is playing hurt, Conforto has actually been pretty decent in left field, but is not hitting."

The 2025 trade deadline has been centered around starting pitching, and that's been an area that the Dodgers have struggled in as well. Los Angeles has battled numerous injuries and have been one of many teams linked to different starting pitchers ahead of the trade deadline.

However, the Dodgers' more pressing need could be another outfielder. Fassegh pointed out that Los Angeles has pitchers returning, which might not be the team's most significant need anymore.

"I know everybody keeps talking about pitching and pitching at the trade deadline. I believe the Dodgers should be looking for an outfield bat at the trade deadline. They got pitching coming. They got (Tyler) Glasnow back yesterday. (Blake) Snell's pitching at Rancho Cucamonga today. They're going to get him back probably on the first road trip after the All-Star break," Vassegh said.

"So, they're getting pitching back, but they need a little bit better outfield defense, and they need a little bit more offense. So, I think they got to look at the outfield at the deadline more than pitching."

Whether the Dodgers add an outfield bat or a starting pitcher, they will likely be active at the deadline, as will many teams. The Dodgers have shown the willingness to be aggressive in the past, and don't be surprised if Los Angeles makes another big splash later this month.
