Missouri basketball grads Tamar Bates and Caleb Grill each made their second NBA Summer League appearance Saturday. Here’s how they performed.
Recent Missouri basketball grads Tamar Bates and Caleb Grill both saw NBA Summer League action Saturday, each playing in their second game for their new teams in the preseason event.
Grill scored eight points as his Chicago Bulls lost 109-92 to the Sacramento Kings in an early game Saturday in Las Vegas.
Later in the day, Bates had a rough shooting night from behind the arc but ended the game with 13 points in a 94-83 loss to the Minnesota Timberwolves.
Grill, as expected, again was active from 3-point range, taking six of his seven shots from the field from deep. He finished the day 2-of-6 from behind the arc, his second straight game with that mark.
The sharpshooter out of Wichita, Kansas, also had three rebounds and tied a game-high with three steals over 20 minutes on the floor.

The Kansas City, Kansas, native finished with an offensive rebound and two assists over 19 minutes in his second appearance in Las Vegas.

On Friday Mizzou alum Kobe Brown began his third season with the LA Clippers with a 14-point, four-rebound, four-assist performance in a 95-92 win over the Houston Rockets.
Grill and Brown could both play again Monday, with the Bulls set to face the Indiana Pacers at 5 p.m. CDT, and the Clippers set to take on the Los Angeles Lakers at 9:30 p.m.
Bates is next scheduled to play with Denver at 7 p.m. Tuesday in a game against the Toronto Raptors.
