With just 7.1 seconds left in the game and the Valkyries trailing 102–97, Hayes launched an off-balance 26-foot one-legged three that seemed impossible, but somehow swished through the net. The stunning shot shocked everyone and cut the Aces’ lead to just two points.

Despite the momentum swing, the Aces were able to sink two free throws not long after, extending their lead to 104–100. The Valkyries fought until the final buzzer, with Kayla Thornton hitting a buzzer-beating 19-foot jumper to close the gap, but it wasn’t enough.
