The Golden State Warriors have had an unexpectedly quiet offseason. Despite seeing departures and being linked to big-name targets such as Al Horford, the franchise is the only NBA team yet to make any real offseason move.

Much of the delay stems from ongoing negotiations surrounding restricted free agent Jonathan Kuminga, whose situation has stalled other roster decisions. With only nine players currently under contract, Golden State’s inactivity stands out in an offseason where contenders across the league have aggressively reshaped their rosters. And for a team still chasing championships, the lack of inward movement has raised eyebrows throughout the league.

Steph Curry Makes His Feelings Clear About Warriors Offseason

Amid the notable silence, Warriors superstar Stephen Curry, now entering his 17th NBA season, addressed the team’s inactivity during his annual basketball camp in Menlo Park.

“Oh for real? I didn’t know," Curry joked. "It’s different for sure, but my confidence is built on the identity we were able to create over the last third of the regular season last year. The playoff journey. We have a really good team."

Despite the lack of fresh additions, the two-time MVP expressed belief in the group already in place. Curry also highlighted the experience he shares with veterans Draymond Green and Jimmy Butler.

Since being drafted seventh overall in 2009, Curry has defined the Warriors’ identity, leading the franchise to four NBA championships. His shooting revolutionized the game, turning Golden State into one of the league’s most successful teams of the past decade.

However, the clock is ticking. The “Steph window” is narrowing, and the Warriors’ ability to maximize the remaining years of his prime will hinge on how they address their roster before the season begins. As it stands, the front office remains in a holding pattern, waiting for clarity on Kuminga before making further moves.

Warriors Seek to Contend For NBA Title Next Season

Golden State finished last season 48-34, earning the seventh seed in the Western Conference before falling to the Minnesota Timberwolves in the conference semifinals. Curry’s late-season hamstring injury in the playoffs limited his impact, but he was still able to make an impact in the opening round against the Houston Rockets.

With the Western Conference even deeper this year, featuring multiple teams improving their rosters, the margin for error is smaller than ever. If the Warriors hope to contend, they will need reinforcements to complement their veteran core. The clock is ticking as the season draws closer.
