The Milwaukee Brewers quest to tie their franchise record win streak just got a little harder. Ahead of their showdown with the Cincinnati Reds, it was announced that one of their outfielders would be going on the bereavement list.

Brewers fans quickly joined together to show their support for the 28-year-old. Having been on the team since 2023, Milwaukee is no stranger to this man.

An impending move is going to send Isaac Collins to the paternity list, meaning a pair of outfielders will be out of action. In this case, it's unknown how long the Brewers will be without their 6' 187-pound center fielder.

Blake Perkins Placed on Bereavement List

Support has poured in for Perkins after news broke that he was placed on the bereavement list. Perkins had two hits, drew two walks, and recorded three runs in the Brewers last two lopsided victories over the Pittsburgh Pirates.

Tyler Koerth shared the news on social media as the transaction was not publicly shared by the organization. Fans were quick to support Perkins who will be out for as long as he needs.

"Losing someone is never easy regardless of how they go. Praying for him," this fan said.

Someone else added, "Prayers for Blake."

The prayers came pouring in for Perkins thanks to Koerth's post, with another adding, "Prayers for Blake and his family."

"sorry to hear that blake!" said another. "my thoughts are with you and your family."

Koerth noted that the Brewers will be without Perkins for "some time" as one fan commented, "3 days usually unless he asked for more." The entire situation has been kept close to Perkins as it's understandable he would like some privacy at this time.

Perkins sports an .810 OPS despite just three home runs and nine RBIs. He's played 22 games with the Brewers this season. His most notable moment with the club in 2025 was his recent throw from center field that stopped Starling Marte from scoring.

That assist ended the game and extended the Brewers winning streak to seven games. It's the start they needed to a crucial New York Mets Series as they've gone on to win five more games since Perkins viral throw.

Primarily batting sixth or seventh, Pat Murphy will have to move around a few pieces in the order. With Collins sharing a similar spot in the lineup, it'll be intriguing to see how the reigning Manager of the Year handles things against the Cincinnati Reds.

The Brewers currently have an eight game lead on the Cubs. In a stretch of 11 straight NL Central games, Milwaukee heads to Chicago from August 18-21 for a crucial five-game series.
