The Los Angeles Lakers are looking for upgrades as the young players get reps.
Lakers Trade Report Surfaces During Summer League originally appeared on Athlon Sports.
The Los Angeles Lakers addressed their biggest need this offseason, but they're far from a finished product. It takes several shrewd moves by the front office to take its team from a first-round out to a championship, so it's safe to expect more transactions this summer.
The Lakers signed veteran center Deandre Ayton to a two-year, $16.2 million deal and re-signed backup Jackson Hayes on a one-year contract. However, power forward Dorian Finney-Smith went to the Houston Rockets, and LeBron James is monitoring the team's moves after opting in to his $52.6 million player option.
Los Angeles wants to add depth as the NBA Summer League continues, via ClutchPoints' Anthony Irwin.
"Previous trade targets include Andrew Wiggins and Robert Williams, among others, and a couple new names have garnered some attention given how the rest of the offseason has played out to this point," he reported.
"Sources say Matisse Thybulle, Marcus Smart (though most teams are watching to see if he's going to be bought out), Ayo Dosunmu and others are names the Lakers have had preliminary conversations with teams about availability and price, though no offers have been made," he continued.

Thybulle, Smart, Donsunmu, and Williams are each on expiring deals, while Wiggins has a player option for 2026-27.
The Lakers are 1-1 in Summer League thus far after beating the Miami Heat 103-83 at the Chase Center on Sunday. Bronny James notched 10 points (3-7 FG, 2-5 3 PT) with two rebounds and one steal over 11 minutes.
