A six-time WNBA All-Star is on the move and her new fanbase appears thrilled about the news. After an unexpectedly brief stint with the Indiana Fever alongside Caitlin Clark, the star will be once again playing for a familiar WNBA franchise.
The Fever abruptly released DeWanna Bonner amid mounting tension. Bonner played just nine games for Indiana prior to the franchise's decision to cut ties with the veteran.
After Bonner joined the Fever via free agency during the offseason, Clark praised the relationship she was building with the veteran.
“Just the way she talks and she leads, for me as a second-year point guard, I want to win for her,” Clark said of Bonner back in April, per The Athletic's James Boyd. “This is the end of her career. She deserves it.”
ESPN's Michael Voepel and Josh Weinfuss reported that Bonner plans to sign with the Phoenix Mercury. Bonner previously played 10 seasons for the Mercury before stints with the Connecticut Sun and Fever.
