Former Stade Rennais president Olivier Cloarec has been named Toulouse president, the Ligue 1 side has announced. Toulouse FC were looking for an executive figure with Ligue 1 experience after the unexpected departure of Damien Comolli. The former Liverpool FC’s Sporting Director has been poached by Serie A giants Juventus, who offered him the role of CEO.

Cloarec was previously the executive president of Rennes from 2022 to 2024. Last year, the 51-year-old Breton has been dismissed by the club’s owners – the Pinault. Former Lens CEO Arnaud Pouille replaced Cloarec at Rennes. Toulouse, who are owned by RedBird Capital Partners, added that Cloarec was identified as the candidate who combined the required experience with a shared vision with the owners, supporters, and the City. “His ability to deliver solid sporting results while ensuring the club’s financial health made him the ideal candidate for this position.”

It is a tremendous honor to join Toulouse FC”, Cloarec said. “The Club has a strong history and incredibly passionate supporters. I am very excited about the vision for the Club. I will do everything I can to help it achieve its ambitions, serving the fans and the City of Toulouse.”
