If this were a few years ago, this trade for the Celtics would make more sense.
If the Boston Celtics move on from Jaylen Brown, there are a few ways that Brad Stevens could go about it.
Stevens hasn't had the opportunity to draft high in the draft yet, so it's tough to say that he's a great young talent evaluator. There's no debate that Steven knows what he's doing regarding NBA-proven talent and some under-the-radar players, but he has to hit on some of his draft picks to justify trading Brown for four or more picks.
Some have suggested that the Celtics could go the player route, which Jonathan Vankin of Heavy Sports recently proposed. His trade idea would be a multi-team deal, sending Brown and more to the Sacramento Kings.
The trade would bring back DeMar DeRozan, Malik Monk, and more.
“In this trade idea, four-time All-Star and 2024 Finals MVP Jaylen Brown — and the four years remaining on his five-season, $303.7 million SuperMax contract — goes to the Sacramento Kings, along with three-point shooting specialist Sam Hauser who will enter the second year of his four-year, $45 million deal...
“In return, the Kings would send 16-year-veteran and six-time All-Star DeMar DeRozan to Boston, together with shooting guard Malik Monk. Forward Keegan Murray and guard Keon Ellis also head to the Celtics,” he wrote.

A few years ago, this trade might’ve made more sense. However, given that DeRozan is declining due to his age, and Monk is essentially a worse version of Payton Pritchard, or one could argue, there wouldn't be much of a reason to move on from Brown for this package.
