Real Madrid star has backed Gianluigi Donnarumma after Jamal Musiala’s injury in the Club World Cup.
Real Madrid are set to face Paris Saint-Germain in the semifinals of the Club World Cup on July 9 at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey.
Los Blancos bagged a 3-2 win against Borussia Dortmund in the competition's quarterfinals, while PSG secured a 2-0 victory over Bayern Munich.
However, PSG's victory also saw an unfortunate event with Bayern Munich's Jamal Musiala suffering a fracture to his left leg following his collision with the French club's goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma.
While this incident brought in quite some criticism against Donnarumma, Real Madrid's first-choice goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois has defended his upcoming immediate opponent.
What did Real Madrid's Thibaut Courtois say about Gianluigi Donnarumma?
Speaking ahead of their upcoming semifinal clash, Courtois candidly expressed that he feels it is 'excessive' to blame Donnarumma for Musiala's injury and said,
"Blaming Donnarumma [for Musiala’s injury] seems excessive to me. Goalkeepers go for the ball. Attackers don’t hold back when they go at our faces either. It’s bad luck. It will hurt him deeply," as per @iMiaSanMia.
