Premier League to Honour Diogo Jota and Brother With Minute’s Silence

The Premier League's confirmed that all opening round matches will feature minute’s silence in memory of Liverpool forward Diogo Jota and his brother André Silva who died in car accident in Spain last July.

Unified Gesture of Respect

In coordination with Liverpool, the league announced that players from all clubs will wear black armbands while stadium screens will display tribute messages and images.

The gesture aims to honour the Portuguese star and his late brother whose passing shocked the football community.

Previous Tribute at Wembley

A similar moment of respect was observed before the Community Shield clash between Liverpool & Crystal Palace at Wembley where floral wreaths were laid and minute’s silence was held.

However the occasion was marred by small number of Palace supporters breaking the silence drawing widespread criticism.
