Georgia high school football is more than just a collection of teams and rivalries; it’s a showcase of talent, determination and community spirit. From South Georgia to the Blue Ridge and everything in-between, these state championship contenders are poised to claim glory in their respective classifications.

AAAAAA: Grayson

We can’t go back on our prediction back from over the weekend of that Grayson will run the table and win the GHSA’s Class AAAAAA state championship in Atlanta. The Rams open up the Georgia high school football season on Friday night when they face off against Collins Hill, the only team they lost to in 2024. There’s plenty to like about this Grayson team after they won 14-straight games and a state championship last year. With a favorable schedule and the talent to boot, the Rams winning it all again seems like something we can absolutely see happening. We see Buford being the primary threat to Grayson’s goal of repeating.

AAAAA: Milton

Playing one of the toughest schedules in all of Georgia high school football, it’s certainly a difficult path the Eagles have to take in looking to notch another AAAAA state championship. Thing is for this program, they’ll be battle tested once the time comes to make another run. Just take a look at Milton’s regular season slate, which includes the season opener at Buford followed up by games against The First Academy and Gainesville. Though Milton is breaking in a few new pieces on the offensive and defensive side of the ball, expect head coach Ben Reaves to press the right buttons as they look to return to Atlanta.

AAAA: Benedictine Military School

We love the makeup of this Cadets team and so much so that we’re going to go against what many may think may happen in AAAA. We’ve got Benedictine Military School riding the wave all the way to the ‘Benz and winning it all. How are we not just going with last year’s champs, North Oconee? Look, this Cadets team is loaded with talent and has the pieces to be there and win it all at the end. Having a player like Stephen Cannon, a Texas Tech commit, at quarterback and then on defense, another Red Raiders’ commitment, LaDamion Guyton, both on the same team. How good can this team really be remains to be seen, but we see the ceiling and that ends with a Georgia high school football title in hand.

AAA: Calhoun

If you’ve got a solid quarterback, you always have a chance of doing something special. For the Yellow Jackets, that’s exactly what they have in front of them heading into the 2025 season. Enter 2028 quarterback Trace Hawkins, who is already seeing significant interest from Power Four programs around the country. Having already getting a taste of what it’s like to winning it all in AAA last year, Hawkins has the weapons around him to do it again this fall. Though there may be doubts on whether this club can make a run to the ‘Benz again, we think there’s enough back in the cupboard to notch another Georgia high school football championship.

AA: Carver

Hard to not want to choose the team that won it all the year before after they held opponents to less than 10 points per game through 15 contests. The Tigers were a dominant force all the way through the Georgia high school football AA playoffs and the scary part is they return a bevy of talent again this season. Carver’s defense is their backbone, led by 2026 four-star EDGE Tristian Givens, who is already committed to Texas A&M. Considering another team other than Carver just seems a bit farfetched.

A Division 1: Fitzgerald

Fitzgerald is bringing back a good core from the 2024 season. The Purple Hurricanes finished as a state semifinalist, falling against eventual runner-up Northeast. Senior quarterback Victor Copeland will the maestro of the Fitzgerald offensive attack and could be the surprise of South Georgia high school football this fall.

A Division 2: Bowdon

Looking at winning a fourth-straight Georgia high school football championship is on the mind of every person within the Bowdon football program. Talent wise, they have enough to make another run with a sound offensive unit. The offense is led by five-star Georgia commit Kaiden Prothro, who last season caught 56 passes for 1,203 yards and scored 22 touchdowns. The one hesitation we had in dubbing Bowdon as champs for the fourth year in a row is can they have steady play under center, as last year’s starter Charles Maxell III has graduated.

Private: Prince Avenue Christian

The three-time Georgia high school football private state champion Wolverines were upended in the final last season when Hebron Christian ran away with the trophy in a 56-28 rout. That’s laid in the minds of coaches, players within the program and they’ve since gone through a little bit of a transition. During the off-season, the school promoted offensive coordinator Jon Richt, son of former Georgia/Miami head coach Mark Richt, to the position of lead man. Richt replaces longtime head coach Greg Vandagriff, who led the program to three state championships and compiled an overall record of 107-16. With players like Virginia Tech commit Ben Musser and four-star running back Andrew Beard, we believe a fourth title is on the way for Prince Avenue Christian.
