On Sunday, the Oregon State Beavers baseball program received a commitment from 2027 infielder Cooper McGowan, a standout at Battle Ground High School in Battle Ground, Washington.
McGowan was one of two commitments for the Beavers on Sunday, joining 2026 in-state left-handed pitcher August Ware.
The 6-foot-1, 190-pound McGowan is unranked by Perfect Games but is ranked as the No. 10 prospect in the state of Washington in the 2027 recruiting class.
“I am thrilled to announce that I will be furthering my academic and athletic career at Oregon State University,” McGowan said in his commitment post on X. “First and foremost I want to thank the Lord Jesus Christ for everything he has blessed me with. This has not been easy and has been full of ups and downs but I know I could always look to Him for guidance. I would not have been able to make it this far in this journey without my parents and my brother. They have made me who I am today as a player and as a person and pushing me to be the best version of myself that I can be. I can’t thank them enough for all the opportunities they’ve given me. Thank you to all my coaches who have believed in me and helped me through this process and especially my high school coach, Coach Johnson. I also want to thank my hitting coach Garrett Patterson for shaping me into the hitter I am today and all he has done for me. And thank you to the OSU coaching staff for giving me a chance and believing in me. The work has just begun. Go Beavs!”
Accoding to Prep Baseball, McGowan possesses a 60-yard time of 6.88, and his exit velocities so far have topped out at around 96 mph.
McGowan joins fellow Washington native Eli Jones, a standout at Woodinville High School, as commitments in their 2027 recruiting class. Jones owns a Perfect Game grade of 9.5. ]
