The All-Star Game rosters were announced on Sunday, but they are far from final. Every year, some players opt out of the game because of injury or another reason.

When that happens, the door opens for some replacement players who were snubbed to join the roster. This year, Christopher Sánchez had a strong argument to be named an All-Star, but was not selected. However, FanSided's Chris Landers predicted he would be a replacement player.

"Sanchez might be the most egregious snub on this list, although that's as much to do with how deep the starting pitching crop is in the NL as anything else," wrote Landers. "Unfortunately, one of those starters, Atlanta Braves lefty Chris Sale, is guaranteed to miss this year's All-Star Game after fracturing his rib last month. In his absence, Sanchez feels like an obvious choice."

Sánchez has a 2.68 ERA and 108 strikeouts in 100 1/3 innings. Sánchez has been a star in the Phillies' rotation. His teammate, Zack Wheeler, was named an All-Star. If someone officially opts out, Sánchez could be the first call.

Sánchez was an All-Star last season, and he is having an even better year this year. Last year, he had a 3.32 ERA in 31 starts. He notched 153 strikeouts as well. Last season, he had a 2.96 ERA and 87 strikeouts in the first half.

Sánchez, All-Star or not, has been a key part of the Phillies' success. The Phillies' rotation has the second-best ERA in all of baseball at 3.32. Wheeler earned recognition as an All-Star, but Sánchez deserves to be in Atlanta with him.
