Chennedy Carter hasn't played in the WNBA since last year with the Chicago Sky.
Chennedy Carter’s Post Turns Heads Amid Potential WNBA Comeback originally appeared on Athlon Sports.
Chennedy Carter last suited up in the WNBA with the Chicago Sky, where she turned heads during the 2024 season with solid production. In 33 games with the Sky, Carter averaged 17.5 points, 3.5 rebounds, and 3.1 assists per game, often giving the team a spark on both ends of the floor. She also led Chicago in scoring for the year.
Despite her impact, Carter did not return to the Sky this season after failing to secure a new WNBA deal. Instead, she took her talents overseas, playing for Women's Chinese Basketball Association team Wuhan Shengfan, and has continued to impress.
However, her success abroad hasn't stopped fans from anticipating a possible WNBA comeback — speculation that Carter has occasionally fueled herself with cryptic posts on social media. Last month, she told fans to "check back end of the month" as it pertained to a potential WNBA comeback.
That chatter reached a new level on Monday when Carter shared a series of videos showing her back in the United States with the caption, “DFW DFW DFW 🏁.”

The posts — referencing the Dallas Fort Worth area — instantly sparked a wave of rumors from fans that Carter could be eyeing a return to the league, possibly with the Dallas Wings.
“Chennedy does DFW mean Dallas/Fort Worth? Don’t get our hopes up 😩,” one fan urged.
“If you are coming to the Wings it’s UPPPPP,” another fan mentioned.
“Girl is you coming to play for the Wings or what ??!!” a fan questioned.
“Wings here she comes,” added another.
“Wow! You’re going to the Dallas Wings,” another fan stated.
While fans continued to share their excitement, Wings reporter Joey Mistretta of ClutchPoints quickly urged caution, reminding fans that Carter is originally from the Fort Worth area (h/t Joey Mistretta)
