A look at which former Vols who are projected to be selected in the first round of the 2025 MLB draft.
The 2025 MLB draft will take place July 13-14 at Coca-Cola Roxy in Atlanta, Georgia.
Liam Doyle, Gavin Kilen, Andrew Fischer, Dean Curley, Marcus Phillips, AJ Russell, Tanner Franklin and Nate Snead are former Vols expected to be drafted in 2025.
Eight former Vols were selected in the 2024 MLB draft: Christian Moore (Angels), Blake Burke (Milwaukee), Billy Amick (Minnesota), Dylan Dreiling (Texas), Drew Beam (Kansas City), Kavares Tears (San Diego), A.J. Causey (Kansas City) and Aaron Combs (White Sox).
MLB.com released a new mock draft for the first round. Below are 2025 MLB draft projections and excerpts for Tennessee players from the updated mock draft.
Liam Doyle
Pick: No. 2
Team: Angels
"The Angels love to expedite their first-rounders to the Majors and could do so with any of the top college southpaws (Anderson, Doyle, Arnold), all of whom are in their sights."
Gavin Kilen
Pick: No. 21
Team: Houston
"(Wehiwa) Aloy, (Jace) LaViolette or Kilen would make it four straight Astros first-round picks who were college up-the-middle players with offensive upside. Among the high school crop, (Xavier) Neyens gets linked to Houston a lot."
Andrew Fischer
Pick: No. 29
Team: Arizona
