The Major League All-Star Game takes place next week in Atlanta. Here's what to know about a showcase that will have limited Brewers contributions.
The 2025 Major League Baseball All-Star Game is right around the corner; here's how the schedule plays out this year:
When is the 2025 All-Star Game?
The game will begin at 6 p.m. CT on Tuesday, July 15. It will air on Fox.
Where is the 2025 All-Star Game?
The stars from both leagues will square off at Truist Park outside of Atlanta, home of the Braves. Atlanta last hosted in 2000.
When will Milwaukee host another All-Star Game?
The Brewers haven't hosted an All-Star Game since 2002, and there hasn't been any buzz to suggest they'll host one of the near future.
The 2026 game will take place at Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia (the Phillies last hosted in 1996). The game, through 2026, will have been played in 23 stadiums since it was played in Milwaukee.
The venues that hosted in 1996 (Philadelphia), 1997 (Cleveland), 1998 (Denver), 2000 (Atlanta) and 2001 (Seattle) have all been tasked with hosting an additional all-star game since Milwaukee in 2002. The 1999 venue, Fenway Park in Boston, has not.
A report in May indicated the Chicago Cubs would host the 2027 all-star game. Wrigley Field hasn't hosted the game since 1990.
When is the Home Run Derby?
The Major League Baseball Home Run Derby will begin at 7 p.m. on Monday, July 14, and air on ESPN. There won't be any Brewers taking part.
What other events are taking place during all-star weekend?
The "Futures Game" celebrating top prospects will take place beginning at 3 p.m. CT on Saturday, July 12. That game will include Brewers top prospect Jesús Made, the 18-year-old infielder for the Class A Carolina Mudcats. Port Washington High School alumnus George Klassen, now with the Los Angeles Angels organization, has been selected to the American League roster. The game will air live on MLB Network, simulcast on MLB.TV.
The Major League Baseball draft will be held beginning at 5 p.m. Sunday, July 13. The Brewers have the No. 20 and No. 32 pick in the early-going of the draft. Milton High School alumnus Gavin Kilen, coming off a strong year at the University of Tennessee, is likely to hear his name on the first day. The draft ends July 14.
The MLB All-Star Celebrity Softball Game will air at noon Monday, July 14, on MLB Network. Among the stars participating are former Brewers pitcher and 2025 Hall of Fame inductee CC Sabathia.
The All-Star red carpet show begins at 1 p.m. on MLB Network on July 15.
Who is the Milwaukee Brewers' All-Star Game representative?
Freddy Peralta has been selected for the second time in his career to represent the Brewers at the All-Star Game. He also appeared in the 2021 game, striking out all three batters he faced (Adolis García, J.D. Martinez and Matt Olson) on just 12 pitches.
Could the Brewers get more All-Stars as we get closer to the game?
Every year, players drop out of the All-Star Game for various reasons, especially pitchers whose regular schedule features a workload too close to the game itself to risk another appearance in short order.
But you'd be hard-pressed to find Brewers mentioned on many "snubs" lists, so it's unlikely we'll see more than Peralta.
Players like Cubs second baseman Nico Hoerner and outfielder Seiya Suzuki aren't on the NL roster and theoretically make it harder for Brewers at the same spots — Brice Turang and Sal Frelick — to get added as a replacement.
How have the Brewers done in recent All-Star Games?
Christian Yelich and William Contreras both started the game for the National League last year. They went a combined 0-for-4 with a strikeout in the NL's 5-3 loss.
In 2023, Corbin Burnes and Devin Williams were both selected, but neither pitched in the game. In 2022, Burnes, Williams and Josh Hader were selected. Williams allowed a hit in one inning with a strikeout, and the other two didn't pitch. Burnes withdrew from the roster to opt for rest, and Hader withdrew from the roster to stay at home with his wife and newborn child.
The team had five all-stars in 2021 — Burnes, Hader, Peralta, Brandon Woodruff and Omar Narváez. Burnes pitched two innings and took the loss, Narváez went 1-for-2 with a single, Woodruff was injured and replaced on the roster, Hader didn't pitch and Peralta threw the perfect inning.
When was the last time the Brewers had just one All-Star?
If we're counting all players who were selected but didn't stay on the roster, the Brewers last had a solo player selected to the All-Star Game in 2017, when reliever Corey Knebel made the team but didn't pitch in the game. The Brewers also had a solo representative in 2016, catcher Jonathan Lucroy.
The last time the Brewers had just one All-Star who was a starting pitcher was 2001 when Ben Sheets made the cut as a rookie.
Has a Brewers player ever been named All-Star Game MVP?
Prince Fielder hit a three-run homer in the 2011 game at Chase Field in Phoenix and led the National League to a 5-1 win, en route to the only all-star game MVP award in franchise history.
