Amber Cox had a message for Kelsey Mitchell.
Indiana Fever GM Turns Heads with Kelsey Mitchell Message on Sunday originally appeared on Athlon Sports.
The Indiana Fever have won three of their last four games, and a big reason for that has been Kelsey Mitchell stepping up in Caitlin Clark’s absence. The reigning Rookie of the Year has been out with a groin injury, and Mitchell has scored 20, 32, 12, 25 and 19 points in the games since.
But that’s no surprise from the eighth-year veteran. Mitchell is the highest-paid player in the WNBA this season, playing on a one-year deal worth $249,244. The 5-foot-8 guard is averaging 19.3 points, 1.7 rebounds and 2.9 assists per game.
On Sunday, Mitchell was named a WNBA All-Star for the third time in her career, joining Clark and forward Aliyah Boston as members from the Fever.
Shortly after the news made rounds, Fever general manager Amber Cox sent a message on social media to Mitchell.
"So deserving! And in her town!!❤️," Cox said.

Cox’s message drew quite a bit of attention, especially with the Fever recently playing with just nine available players. Clark is out with injury, and Damiris Dantas is away on international duty with the Brazilian national team at the 2025 FIBA Women’s AmeriCup.
"Need to start working on how to best LA & Atlanta. A third of LA's wins are against the Fever," a fan said.
"Congrats to Kelsey! When are we signing another player?" another wrote.
"Congratulations Kelsey we love you!!!! Now back to business....what are yall doing to solve your half empty roster???" added another.
"Yay! Congratulations! Let’s bring in one more player like Emma," wrote a fan, referencing veteran free agent Emma Meesseman, a rumored Fever target.
"Do something w the roster or your players will be worn out, increasing chances of injury. You guys are horrible. What a waste season," a fan added.
"What are you waiting for to sign Meesseman? With her, we'd be the top contenders," one said.
Regardless, becoming an All-Star for the third time is a well-deserved honor for Mitchell. The 29-year-old has spent her entire career with the Fever after being selected No. 2 overall in the 2018 draft, and now she has a chance to play in the All-Star Game on her home court in Indianapolis.
The game is scheduled for July 19 at 8:30 p.m. ET. It will be televised on ABC.
