The Phoenix Suns have their star being closely monitored.
Pacific Division Rival Expected To Keep Close Eye on Potential Bradley Beal Buyout originally appeared on Athlon Sports.
The Phoenix Suns are at a major crossroads with Bradley Beal. After an underwhelming campaign in 2024-25, the Suns are working on a makeover and the star guard's fit with the direction of the team moving forward is being questioned.
The idea of buying out Beal's contract has been floated and is now in full motion across the NBA rumor mill. Rival teams are gearing up to pursue the Suns guard, should the buyout come to fruition.
There are a handful of teams who could benefit from the services of Beal. However, there is only one seemingly clearing way for him right now. That would be the Los Angeles Clippers.
The Clippers started the day by shipping away Norman Powell in a three-team deal with the Miami Heat and Utah Jazz. It netted them John Collins in the process.
Michael Scotto mentioned that it is worth keeping an eye on the Clippers' interest in Beal after the deal. The NBA insider suggested the matter on Twitter/X after noting how Los Angeles was 'reluctant' to offer Powell a new extension.
Scotto wrote, "If Bradley Beal agrees to a Suns buyout, Clippers may have interest but only have $5.3M of the non-tax MLE to use. Malcolm Brogdon and Chris Paul have also drawn free agency interest from LA."
Scotto is not the only insider who thinks that the circumstances are lining up for the Clippers to pursue Beal. Jake Fischer did as well.
Fischer wrote, "Some confirmed suitors for Beal include the LA Clippers — fresh off agreeing to trade Norman Powell to Miami in a three-team deal that will bring back Utah's John Collins — as well as the Los Angeles Lakers, Milwaukee and Minnesota. Miami was widely anticipated to be in that mix, but the Heat's agreed-to acquisition of Powell would appear to rule them out of the Beal chase and would likewise appear to boost the Clippers' chances of convincing Beal to join Kawhi Leonard, James Harden and Co. by stepping into a clear backcourt void created by Powell's departure."
Should the Suns decide to cut ties with their former All-Star guard, there should be no shortage of suitors. Ultimately, there also appears to be a big chance that Beal does not travel too far away from Phoenix.
