Damian Lillard could join forces with Stephen Curry pretty soon.

The NBA offseason got off to a strong start, with the Milwaukee Bucks making one of the most surprising decisions in recent years.

They waived Damian Lillard, who was slated to make $113 million in the next two seasons, and they will now have to pay him that money over the next five years.

Unsurprisingly, it didn't take long before multiple teams showed an interest in signing Lillard, especially now that money won't be an issue.

That's why it's not much of a surprise to hear Sam Gordon's report about the Golden State Warriors' interest in his services:

“The Warriors also have interest in Damian Lillard, the star guard who is soon to be a free agent,” Gordon wrote in The San Francisco Chronicle, citing an NBA source. “Lillard will be rehabilitating a torn left Achilles sustained in April while playing for the Milwaukee Bucks in the first round of the playoffs against the Indiana Pacers.”

Lillard will most likely miss most of next season after sustaining an Achilles injury in the playoffs.

And while he and Giannis Antetokounmpo didn't live up to the expectations, he was still quite solid with averages of 24.9 points, 4.7 rebounds, and 7.1 assists per game while shooting 44.8% from the field, 37.6% from beyond the arc, and 92.1% from the free-throw line.

Lillard is perhaps the only other player in the league who can consistently knock down shots from 30+ feet, and while pairing him with Stephen Curry could lead to some defensive miscues, the offensive potential is mesmerizing.

The Warriors continue to sort out free agency, and they will need to figure out what to do with Jonathan Kuminga.

Lillard, on the other hand, can still take his time and ponder all his options.
