Gianluigi Donnarumma was involved in a collision with Jamal Musiala, leading to a severe injury to the German.
Gianluigi Donnarumma was involved in an unfortunate collision with Jamal Musiala as PSG locked horns with Bayern Munich in the Club World Cup quarterfinals on Saturday at Atlanta's Mercedes-Benz Stadium.
The collision happened at the stroke of halftime as Musiala and Donnarumma went for the ball, which resulted in the former's fractured fibula.
Following the game, there was a lot of criticism thrown at the Italian goalkeeper as he lunged at the ball with Musiala in the vicinity.
However, the 26-year-old was deeply affected by the move and was concerned about Musiala. He reportedly sought support from PSG's team psychologist Joaquin Valdes.
Donnarumma made a public apology in an interaction with La Gazzetta dello Sport, where he said, "I'm very shocked by what happened, it was certainly not my intention to hurt Musiala."
The Italian will be in action for PSG in the Club World Cup semifinals against Real Madrid on Wednesday, July 10.

Donnarumma's agent backs him in the Musiala injury saga
Amidst a lot of negativity and criticism thrown at Donnarumma, his agent, Vicenzo Raiola, has backed his client.
"It’s a matter of tenths of a second – it only takes a moment for the save to turn into a penalty. Gigio was first to get to the ball and could no longer avoid the challenge. It’s unfair to think that he wanted to hurt Musiala, whom we hope recovers as soon as possible to come back stronger than before," Raiola told Gazzetta.
Following the game, Manuel Neuer revealed that he had to tell Donnarumma to check on Musiala after the horror injury.
However, Raiola explains this incident as he said, "It wasn't his intention to pretend nothing had happened. Gigio is a very sensitive guy. He wouldn’t have been able to stand the scene and preferred to walk away and let the doctors take care of Musiala. He even sent me a message at half time to tell me he was shaken and that he hadn’t done it on purpose"
Bayern Munich have officially confirmed on Sunday that Musiala has fractured his fibula and will be out for many months.
