Four Bills players were named the top players in the league at their jersey number, while the rest of the AFC East was shut out entirely.
If you own a Josh Allen jersey, you already know No. 17 is elite. But if you’re a fan of ball-snapping, people-moving unsung heroes in the trenches, Buffalo’s No. 66 deserves some love, too.
A quartet of Buffalo Bills players were named to CBS Sports' Top 2025NFL Players by Jersey Number list for the 2025 season: quarterback Josh Allen (No. 17), cornerback Christian Benford (No. 47), center Connor McGovern (No. 66), and left tackle Dion Dawkins (No. 73).
Defensive end Greg Rousseau and tight end Dalton Kincaid were also mentioned as runners-up at their respective numbers, while rookie wide receiver Keon Coleman couldn’t quite dethrone Baltimore Ravens linebacker Roquan Smith for the coveted No. 0.
Buffalo is the only team from the AFC East on the list. Baltimore leads all teams with nine players featured.
Here’s what CBS had to say about the Bills players who best represent their jersey numbers in 2025.
Josh Allen
Allen continues to redefine the dual-threat quarterback prototype, and CBS Sports acknowledged his dominance with high praise:
“Commanders fans like them some Terry McLaurin, but as with Mahomes, there really isn’t much to debate when it comes to No. 17. It belongs to the guy who most often plays the NFL version of Superman.”
Christian Benford
Benford earned his spot thanks to consistent production in the secondary and a new long-term deal:
“Freshly paid on a long-term deal, Benford is trying to make the high 40s look cool for cornerbacks, turning in back-to-back seasons with at least two picks, two forced fumbles and 10 pass breakups.”
Connor McGovern
McGovern was a breakout star in 2024 after switching from guard to center.
“Not to be confused with the Connor McGovern who last played for the Jets, this guy just earned his first career Pro Bowl honor after seamlessly filling the shoes of Mitch Morse as Josh Allen’s center.”
Dion Dawkins
Dawkins has been selected to four straight Pro Bowls and remains a staple on the Bills’ offensive line, missing only three games in eight seasons.
“Cowboys younger Tyler Smith is a prime candidate to claim this spot as he keeps growing, but Dawkins is a prized blocker on his own, entrenching himself as Josh Allen’s blind-side bodyguard.”
