Nancy Lieberman eviscerated former NBA point guard Jeff Teague for his recent Caitlin Clark hot take. Teague recently claimed on his podcast, Club 520, that Clark was “good, but not that good.”

Lieberman, a former WNBA player and coach as well as a former assistant coach for the NBA’s Sacramento Kings, caught wind of those comments. She made a recent guest appearance on 3 and Ones podcast with former NBA player Michael Beasley and reporter Chris Haynes, where she called out Teague for his own skills.

“I don’t agree with Jeff Teague, who I read something today about said Caitlin Clark, she’s just a good player,” Lieberman said. “She’s not a great player. I love you, you weren’t a great player. You were serviceable. I know you made the All-Star team one time.”

Teague played 12 seasons in the NBA, primarily with the Atlanta Hawks, and was an All-Star during the 2014-15 season. He put up career averages of 12.2 points and 5.6 assists per game while shooting 44.4% from the floor a 36.0% from 3-point range.

To Nancy Lieberman’s point, while those are solid numbers and allowed Jeff Teague to be a starter for many years, he was hardly ever considered one of the league’s premier stars. Meanwhile, Clark already has two All-Star appearances despite playing in the WNBA for just two seasons.

She also won Rookie of the Year in 2024 and broke the league record for assists in a single season. She ended her first year in the league with averages of 19.2 points, 8.4 assists and 5.7 rebounds per game while shooting 34.4% from 3-point range.

This season, Clark has missed 17 of a possible 30 games while being sidelined due to various injuries. The team has found somewhat of a rhythm without her, at one point winning five straight games before losing to the Los Angeles Sparks on Tuesday night.

Fever coach Stephanie White even described the injury to Clark as a “blessing in disguise” for some of the other players on the team. She argued that, while not ideal, it has forced the team to play more together and allowed some veterans a chance to shine.

“I think it says a lot about this group,” she said. “You know we’ve got a deep team. …I think I said it early when C[lark] was out the very first time, while we don’t like it, sometimes it can be a blessing in disguise, because everybody else finds themselves. And no one is afraid to make the big play, offensively or defensively.

“We’ve got a really good group, that’s unselfish. That want to win. That play well together and for each other and when one person doesn’t have it, somebody else does. And I think it makes us really, really difficult to scout when that happens.”
