As the NBA offseason now heads into August, the Golden State Warriors still have yet to make any additions to their roster outside of the second round of the 2025 draft.

Of course, the Warriors are still awaiting a decision by restricted free agent Jonathan Kuminga, who could be on the move after falling out of Steve Kerr’s rotation last season.

While Kuminga could be on the move, the only way for another team to acquire him is though a sign-and-trade and with the Warriors’ high asking price, the young forward may be back in Golden State next season.

With the Warriors still waiting on Kuminga, they have missed out on multiple free agent targets but it has been reported that they have deals in place with multiple players that will be finalized after Kuminga’s decision.

While the Warriors are awaiting moves to upgrade their roster, a former champion with the franchise made a massive career decision recently.

That player is JaVale McGee, who reportedly signed a one-year contract with the Illawarra Hawks of the NBL.

Of course, McGee is a three-time NBA champion as he won two titles with the Warriors and one with the Los Angeles Lakers.

The 37-year-old center spent 16 seasons in the NBA but has not suited up for a team since the 2023-24 season where he played in 46 games for the Sacramento Kings.

While McGee was know for being a multi-time winner of Shaquille O’Neal’s Shaqtin’ a Fool early in his career, he was able to carve out a successful 16-year career in the NBA with most of his success coming with the Washington Wizards and Denver Nuggets.

Despite this, McGee also played a key role for the Warriors during their championship runs in 2017 and 2018.

Now the 37-year-old big man will head overseas to play in the NBL with the Hawks while he continues to attempt a comeback to the NBA.
