Rutgers Football's DT Sheffield has been named to the Biletnikoff Award Watch List, given to the nation's top receiver.
Rutgers Football wide receiver DT Sheffield continues to rack up the preseason honors, as he was one of 48 players named to the 2025 Biletnikoff Award Preseason Watch List on Wednesday afternoon.
The award is named after College Football and Pro Football Hall of Fame wide receiver Fred Biletnikoff and is presented annually to the nation’s most college football outstanding FBS receiver. However, any player, regardless of position is eligible to win the award.
Sheffield joined the Scarlet Knights via the Transfer Portal this offseason, choosing Rutgers Football over offers from programs such as Arkansas, California, Georgia Tech, Michigan State, Mississippi State, Oklahoma State, Pittsburgh, UCLA, Utah, and, Virginia.
Last season with North Texas, Sheffield was one of the top receiving threats in the American Conference, as he finished with 66 receptions for 822 receiving yards and a team-high 11 touchdowns. He also rushed the ball four times for 86 yards and a touchdown, along with 13 kicks returned for 157 yards (12.1 AVG) and six punt returns for 127 yards (21.7 AVG).
