A bid from Juventus could very well be imminent.
Per Paul Joyce, Liverpool FC goalkeeper Alisson Becker is receptive to a long-term move to Juventus. However, the Brazilian custodian wants to be respectful of Liverpool and will leave the decision in the club’s hands if a formal transfer offer is submitted by the Turin club.
The club had previously triggered an extension in March, extending Alisson’s contract to the summer of 2027.
Perhaps Liverpool may be tempted to cash in on Ali, but with just a year left on his deal, that fee won’t really be that significant. Liverpool will already be losing two veteran leaders, Andy Robertson and Mohamed Salah, so perhaps that will come into play as well. Alisson has long been a key part of the leadership group, often helping integrate new South American signings at the club.
Club captain Virgil van Dijk spoke to Liverpool Echo journalist Ian Doyle about the Alisson links:
“Everyone can feel a certain way about it. There are rumours but if there is anything concrete then we will all find out. But for me, I’m never worried.”
“Listen, there is always going to be a day where you eventually myself – will go. But if it’s going to happen; I have no idea about it and I don’t think at this point he has an idea about it – then we will, as a club, adapt to that.”
“He’s very important for me as one of the leaders in the team and I think he is very important on the pitch because I think he is one of the best – in my opinion the best – goalkeeper in the world. He’s trying to be back as soon as possible to help us for the last four games and that’s our main focus.”
“Whatever happens after that is not something you should ask me. Would I love him to stay? Of course, there’s no doubt about that.”
The captain was also asked by Doyle if he wanted midfielder Curtis Jones to stay:
“Of course. I don’t know what’s going to happen because I’m not the boss.”
“Curtis I thought was outstanding against Everton, was not too much spoken about but especially in possession he was quite a big game-changer, especially in his positioning.”
“It’s nice to be in your original position but he is so comfortable on the ball, he understands what is asked from that position.”
I still maintain that some Alisson is better than no Alisson, so hopefully that works out for us this summer.
