Kyle Walker completes his move to Burnley as an era ends at Manchester City

Kyle Walker has completed his permanent move to Burnley from Manchester City. The right-back has signed a two-year contract with the newly promoted club and will be hoping to help avoid relegation from the Premier League next season. But Kyle Walker’s departure does signify the end of an era at Manchester City as his departure from the club follows on from Kevin De Bruyne’s departure from the club for Napoli. This summer was always going to be one of upheaval at the Etihad, and that process will continue as this summer unfolds.

Kyle Walker joins Burnley and he says goodbye to Manchester City.

Kyle Walker’s move to Burnley was also confirmed on mancity.com yesterday. Walker released a statement on his official Instagram account where he thanked everyone associated with the club. The England international said: “Seven-and-a-half years, a truly amazing, fantastic, wonderful and special place that will remain truly in my heart forever.

“I feel what we have achieved as a team, a club, and organisation, a family, that’s not just obviously the players and the staff but you as fans have been absolutely incredible.

The ups, the downs, the good times, the bad times, the treble, the centurions, the formidables, the four-in-a-row. You name it, we’ve kind of done it, and I feel that I wanted to say thank you to each and every one associated with Manchester City.

Kyle Walker is the latest of Manchester City’s key contributors to leave the club.

This summer always had the potential to see a host of key contributors leave Manchester City. Kevin De Bruyne’s departure has already been confirmed. Kyle Walker has now officially left the club. Both players have left their mark at Manchester City. They both played integral roles in Manchester City’s recent era of dominance. But everything must come to an end. In the case of Kevin De Bruyne, he was allowed to say goodbye to the Manchester City fans and club after City’s final home game of the 24/25 season. Kyle Walker didn’t get that opportunity given the circumstances that surrounded his move to AC Milan on loan for the second half of last season. But like De Bruyne, Walker’s departure does signify the end of an era. There could also be more key players who leave Manchester City this summer.

John Stones, Ilkay Gundogan and Jack Grealish could all potentially leave City this summer. Each player has been a key contributor to Manchester City’s success. But as an era ends, a new one is set to get underway at Manchester City. It is sad to see such prominent players leave City. But it has to happen so City can build their next era of success. Kyle Walker has given his all to Manchester City. Now he will take the next step of his career at Burnley.
