RALEIGH, N.C. — Four-star 2027 cornerback Xavier Hasan has mapped out his fall travel schedule. It’s stacked and begins with him staying locally during week 1.
Hasan, a 6-foot, 180-pounder from Cardinal Gibbons High, will spend Labor Day in Chapel Hill to watch the Bill Belichick era open against TCU. The Thursday prior he’ll make the even shorter trip to Carter-Finley Stadium — which literally sits across the street from his high school — to watch NC State take on East Carolina.
The rest of Hasan’s docket has Notre Dame on Sept. 13 (vs. Texas A&M), Penn State’s White Out game on Sept. 27 (vs. Oregon), Florida State on Oct. 4 (vs. Miami), Tennessee on Oct. 11 (vs. Arkansas), Ohio State on Nov. 1 (Penn State), Georgia on Nov. 15 (vs. Texas), and Florida (FSU) on Nov. 29.
Over the offseason, Hasan visited UNC three times: twice for spring practices and then for one of the Tar Heels’ 7-on-7 team camps. Following the second spring practice, Armond Hawkins, the Heels’ cornerbacks coach, offered Hasan, the top in-state prospect.
“I got to talk to ‘Mondo’ a pretty good amount [during the 7-on-7 camp] — chit chatting back and forth in between series and plays because he was on the same field as me,” Hasan said. “He was just talking about the school, the defense they run, the type of DB [that] they recruit — all that good stuff.”
Also this offseason, Hasan checked out Clemson, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, NC State, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Rutgers, and Tennessee. The Gators and Volunteers hosted him multiple times.
“A couple [schools] are [sticking out],” Hasan said. “I am going to release a top 10 this Sunday, on my birthday.”
Florida, Georgia, and Tennessee are locks to make Hasan’s top 10.
Scouting Report
Steven Wright, Cardinal Gibbons High’s 15-year head coach: “For a corner, he’s long, he’s athletic, he’s got great ball skills for a DB, and is a guy that has the potential to kind of lock down one side of the field with his skill set… He’s obviously a guy we can play anywhere, really, in the defensive backfield, and is going to excel.”
After serving as a varsity reserve during his freshman year, Hasan became a starter a year ago. He finished with seven interceptions, 13 pass breakup, and 31 tackles. He returned one of his picks for a touchdown.
